GLBGOP BYLAWS--SECTION 2.01 PURPOSES

The Organization is organized as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization under the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (status pending). The primary purposes of this Organization are to: 

A.  Promote Republican/conservative based values and ideals, including: (1) promoting economy, efficiency and fiscal restraint in public affairs; (2) urging upon administrative and legislative agencies having jurisdiction of the Organization’s local communities such measures as will advance the general welfare of the local communities to resist any legislation or course of action which would tend to place an unnecessary or unreasonable tax burden upon the taxpayers  and residents and to take part in campaigning for or against such measures as may be offered to the electorate; and (3) urging upon administrative and legislative agencies having jurisdiction of the Organization’s local communities such measures as will advance the general welfare of the people to resist any legislation or course of action which would tend to place unnecessary or unreasonable restrictions upon individual rights, including rights of property owners, and to take an active part in campaigning for or against such measures as may be offered to the electorate.  

B.  Provide public relations education programs designed to educate the local general public on the purposes and principles of the Organization and issue advocacy related to those purposes;

C.  Provide public relations education programs designed to bring the local general public and the Organization’s Membership the position of the Organization on local ballot measures and issues in Laguna Beach and other local communities, including those proposed by local City Councils, as set forth in issue specific resolutions of the Organization adopted by the Board or the Members, from time to time;

D.  Encourage individuals to seek public office in the Organization’s local communities that support and advance the above purposes of this Organization;

E.  Influence the selection, nomination, election and appointment or defeat of candidates to federal, state or local public office, as well as issue advocacy on a federal, state and local level, that support and advance the above purposes of this Organization;

F.  Assist in voter mobilization or “get out the vote” activities; and

G.  Other nonprofitable purposes promoting social welfare related to the above.
